What's the difference between Single & Double-layer face masks?

The construction of the two mask styles is virtually the same, with a printed design on a single layer of stretchy antimicrobial treated polyester/spandex. The difference is that the double-layer has an additional layer of cotton on the inside, with space between the two layers to fit a paper/cloth filter or emergency peanuts.
